The
Association of Music Personnel in Public Radio is an organization dedicated
to music of all varieties on public radio. AMPPR has been in existence
for 45 years; and although we've undergone many changes over those years,
now, in 2007, we’re more enthusiastic about the viability of music on radio
than ever before.
The
changes we've experienced in radio over the years have affected both commercial
and publicly funded media. Our aim always has been to satisfy the changing
needs of the public in the face of an evolving world and dynamic technological
advances that seem to occur just as we've begun to think we've found all
the answers.
The
members of AMPPR are charged with the responsibility of finding new and
more engaging ways to reach audiences. Our organization brings together
the people and resources to accomplish that goal by providing a variety
of services, among them the annual Music Personnel Conference. We also
host this web site and the AMPPR Listserv to keep interaction alive throughout
the year.
Our
plans for the future include the addition of regional workshops for music
announcers and other expanded services when our budget can accommodate
them.
We
invite participation by all individuals involved in the business of presenting
music on the radio. If you are not yet a member of AMPPR, join us and get
involved!
